Dandelions

I have a new song that talks about Dandelions. I don't know why I have such strong mental imagery of open fields of grass and waving yellow flowers, but I have had them for a while. Nick calls it a hit... I'm not sure but here is a preview of the chorus:

I wish that I could read you right,
But I am just a simple guy,
Looking for that little piece of peace of mind,
I found with, you in my life...

If you find that you can't sleep at night
I will be the one who will ease your mind
Tell you them stories of dandelions
and how I'm by your side...

Wednesday Night Gig...

Went and played an open mic night at B-Street Billiards this evening, visiting our friend Michelle and scoping the place for a potential gig and/or future gigs. The place is in San Mateo at 164 South B St., has a really warm ambiance and is a great place to meet, hang out, place some pool etc... I would highly recommend it, if not just for you to check out the Neo-classic architecture of the building. It's historically listed and actually a bank in its' first life (complete with cold freezer at the back of the old vault)!!!

It was a great evening. I had been having a really crummy day at work and such, so getting up and playing in front of people and making them happy was a great feeling. I need to really think my manager Nick for pushing me to go down and play. I sounded great. The room provided some natural reverb because of the high ceilings that was just amazing - it really filled things out. My 5-song set included acoustic versions of: Pocketman; Seize the Day; Everyday; Charity; The Real Me. I also previewed a new song during my sound check called "Dandelions." The crowd was really receptive and enjoyed things. Altogether, it was a good night and I look forward to getting back there soon.

New online music distribution... MP3TUNES DOT COM

The BRB has added additional new online MP3 distribution capability from MP3tunes.com. The site was created by Michael Robertson, the original CEO of MP3.com, which was taken offline after being aquirement by Vivendi Universal about three years ago. We have had a lot of trouble with major online distribution companies itunes, and don't feel they are currently representing the interests of independent musicians. So, in the spirit of independent music the Billy Riggs Band would encourage you to download digital media from this site:
http://www.mp3tunes.com/BillyRiggsBand

Three great things about it are:
  1. - it's a website selling MP3 files, so you have compatibility with any program not just Apple or Microsoft products.

  2. - it's 100% CD Baby/independent artists!

  3. - it's darn pretty cheap; 65 cents per song, $6.50 per full-album.

More news about it can be found here:

Take care and talk soon...
